Yet, the French quotation continues to exceed the German, Spanish and Danish prices by three to four cents. The corrected quotations in those countries have stayed on an almost identical level for three weeks in a row so far. So, the annual peak level remains constant in many countries.

Trend for the German market: Although there are reports saying that the booming export towards Asia is running out of steam a little, the large quantities of pigs for slaughter on offer were very well demanded last week. No negative market effects resulted from the Russian ban on imports of live pigs from Germany which had been imposed last week; live-animal exports are of minor significance since the export duties were raised last year.

With the quantities on offer being declining this week, the positive atmosphere in not expected to change in whatever way. The quotations are anticipated to remain on a steady or even increasing level on Friday.
