Temple Grandin is and American doctor.

She has an animal science background and she is a professor at the Colorado University.

She has written several books.

The ones that pertain to our industry is one called "Animals In Translation" and it's about using the mysteries of autism to decode animal behavior.

This book was written in 2005.

Because she can empathize better than many other people because of her autism condition, she points out that the meat industry can better improve the practices to a standard that is more humane.

She's written a book more recently.

It's called "Animals Make Us Human: Creating the Best Life for Animals" and this book, in conjunction with a paper she's written named "Animals Are Not Things", she talks about animals have a highly developed nervous system so that they can feel pain.

She points out that these animals must be protected from pain caused by humans and she points out that, in our age of technology, animals can be slaughtered without fear and pain.

Those interested in attending the presentation are encouraged to call Manitoba Pork Council at (204) 237-7447 or email [email protected] to register for tickets.
