Among those attending the meeting were scientists from several European countries and two work groups from the USA. HIPRA personnel from the DIAGNOS service participated in this event by contributing updated information on the prevalence of the virus in Spain in order to unite efforts for improving vigilance and monitoring of this disease, which presents a potential risk to public health.

HIPRA has been part of ESNIP as a founding partner since it was created six years ago. The network strives to acquire greater understanding of the swine influenza virus, monitor influenza prevalence on European swine farms and harmonise diagnostic methods carried out by leading laboratories.
