The 2011, 2012 and 2013 pig crop is adjusted to a lower level accordingly.

The 2013 pig crop is further revised downward as the effect of the new sow husbandry requirements were underestimated in the Annual Report.

Regardless of the cut, the projection of a pig crop recovery in 2013 remains intact.

The pig crop is forecast to pick up as a result of a higher breeding efficiency and improved margins for breeding and fattening.

Slaughter is not expected to recover before 2014.

The tight supply of pork will hamper a further expansion of exports in 2013.
