As a company that is firmly committed to delivering the health and nutrition solutions pork producers need to achieve desired production goals, Novus International will be sharing its relevant knowledge through a series of technical presentations.

Novus's own Dr Karen Lehe, Swine Technical Manager, Dr Jeffrey Escobar, Senior Manager of Swine Nutrition Research and Dr Yulin Ma, Research Specialist of Swine Nutrition, will be presenting three topics that are integral to enhanced pig performance.

"We are excited to be a part of this important industry event and look forward to sharing this critical information and research with the pork industry," notes Scott Moore, National Sales Manager for Swine & Dairy. "While Novus is focused on improving all aspects of pork production, these presentations are designed to specifically address issues that can help producers improve pig performance."

Dr Escobar will kick things off on Wednesday, 5 June, at 10:00 a.m. with his presentation, Applying Nutrient Digestibility Concepts to Reduce Diet Costs. Nutrient digestibility can significantly affect pig performance, especially when a high volume of alternative ingredients are being used to reduce diet cost. Dr Escobar will examine various technologies that help improve nutrient digestibility of alternative ingredients through the use of enzymes in times of high traditional diet costs.

At 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Dr Lehe will talk about how to, Improve Performance with Water-Delivered Organic Acids. Organic acids and organic/inorganic acid blends have been used in pig production for decades. Pressure to reduce antimicrobial use in pork production globally has increased the urgency of understanding how to use organic acids effectively. Dr Lehe will discuss the positive results of ongoing studies which explored the benefits to both pigs and sows when ACTIVATE® WD nutritional feed acid is supplied to the drinking water of sows throughout lactation.

These two technical presentations will be held at the Novus hospitality tent, 1046 HT, on consecutive days, starting Wednesday, to ensure that all Expo attendees have an opportunity to hear this relevant and useful information. On Thursday, 6 June, Dr Lehe's presentation will be at 10:00 a.m., followed by Dr Escobar at 2:00 p.m.

A third presentation, Benefits of MINTREX® Cu on Nursery and GF Pigs – A Meta-Analysis, by Dr Yulin Ma will be held on Thursday, 6 June at 2:00 p.m. Supplemental Cu is routinely utilized by the swine industry in early nursery diets as a growth stimulant. Although the mechanism of this response is still not fully understood, supplemental Cu potentially has antimicrobial effects in the lumen of the gastrointestinal tract either directly or indirectly via copper bile salts. Dr Ma will talk about the higher bioavailability of MINTREX® Cu, a methionine hydroxy analog chelated form of Cu, and how the use of this product could result in a different response profile as compared to CuSO4.
