Competition for Agri-food Technology Research Funding

UK – The Technology Strategy Board in the UK is to launch a multi-million pound competition which will fund research and development projectslooking for engineering solutions for agrifood production systems.

The R and D projects will look at systems from primary production through to food processing and manufacture.

The Technology Board expects the competition to take place between August and October with up to £13 million worth of funding available.

Announced during the Livestock Event in Birmingham, the project is establishing two consortia building workshops to assist with applications to the competition.

The board said that the workshops will help businesses and research-based organisations understand the scope of the competition and identify potential partners.

The board said nthat the competition will include all facets of engineering science and engagement of agri-food organisations with sectors such as Space, ICT and Electronics, Sensors and Photonics is to be encouraged through the workshops.

The workshops take place on 23 July in Peterborough and 30 July in Edinburgh.
