July Pork Export Volume, Value Up Compared to Previous Year

BRAZIL - The volume and value of pork exported in July of this year rose compared to the same period last year.

The latest figures from ABPIECS reveal that Brazil exported 50.437 tons of pork in July 2013, up 14 per cent compared to the same month in 2012. The total volume of pork exported during January to July 2013 was 290.95 tons compared to 313.07 tons during the same period last year, indicating a 7 per cent drop.

The value of pork exported in July was US$126.13, up by as much as 16.5 per cent compared to July 2012, where the figure stood at US$108.3. The total value of pork exported during the first seven months of 2013 was US$756.4, compared to US$795.7 during the same period last year, down by 5 per cent.

The average value of pork in July 2013 was $2,501 per ton, up 2.3 per cent compared to the same month in 2012, where the average value was $2,447 per ton.
