Prices of Chinese Agri Foodstuffs Go Up
CHINA - According to a survey 36 medium and large sized cities conducted by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, prices of various agricultural foodstuffs in China rose by a small amount in the week of 19-25 August.The retail price of chicken and eggs kept rising, with eggs up by 0.6 per cent and chicken up by 0.1 per cent.
Retail prices of food grains saw a steady rise, with small packaged flour up by 0.2 per cent, and the prices of small packaged rice steady.
The average wholesale prices for meat saw both rises and falls.
The price of pork was up by 0.2 per cent compared to the previous week but both beef and mutton prices were down by 0.4 per cent.
The price of cooking oil fell by small margin, with, soybean oil, peanut oil and rapeseed oil down by 0.2 per cent, 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively.
Aquatic products saw an increase in the amount on the market. The average wholesale price of eight kinds of aquatic products were down by 0.4 per cent compared to the previous week, with products such as big hairtail, small hairtail, little yellow croaker and large yellow croaker all having a drop in price, down by 1one per cent, 0.7 per cent, 0.5 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively.
