Eleven Further Outbreaks of ASF Reported in Russia

RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported 11 further outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF) across several regions in the country affecting wild boars and pigs.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 103 on 15 October, stating that a total of 882 pigs were found susceptible, out of which 68 cases were reported. A total of 56 deaths were recorded, and 455 animals were slaughtered.

In the case of wild boars, six animals were found to be affected out of which one death was reported. The remaining boar was taken to slaughter.

The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
