Classical Swine Fever Outbreak Hits Russia

RUSSIA - A new outbreak of Classical swine fever (CSF) has been reported to the OIE.

The outbreak was reported by Dr Evgeny Nepoklonov, Deputy Head, Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, Ministry of Agriculture, Moscow.

The outbreak occurred in Mikhailovka, Blagoveshchensky, Amur Oblast and remains ongoing.

In total there has been four confirmed cases and weekly follow-up reports will be submitted.

The following control measures have been applied:

  • Stamping out
  • Quarantine
  • Movement control inside the country
  • Screening
  • Disinfection of infected premises/establishment(s)
  • No vaccination
  • No treatment of affected animals
