Mr Fisher, BPEX butchery development manager, became a Liveryman of the organisation in 2001 and has now been appointed to its Court, the governing body.

He said: “I am very proud to have achieved this position and I will make the best contribution I can.”

The Worshipful Company of Butchers is one of the seven oldest of the City of London Livery Companies and was granted its Royal Charter in 1605.

BPEX Director Mick Sloyan said: “It is a great honour for Keith to become a member of the Court. This is richly deserved recognition and reflects the prominence he holds in the industry.”

Mr Fisher also sits on two committees of the Company, Charity and Education Committee together with the Livery Committee.

BPEX is the organisation for pig levy payers in England and is a division of the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB).
