The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 4 on Thursday, 7 November. A real-time PCR test was conducted on 29 October at the National Veterinary Diagnosis Laboratory, confirming the presence of the CSF virus.

According to the report received, a total of 48 pigs were found susceptible, out of which 18 cases were reported. Out of the 18 affected pigs, 10 were found dead. None of the animals were destroyed and/or slaughtered.

According to the OIE, the affected farm is in a zone where vaccination was suspended from 1 June 2013. It is a farm for family consumption.

Clinical and virological surveillance is on-going with blood sampling for the detection of classical swine fever by PCR in farms around the outbreak and in the surveillance zone.

The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
