Rise in Mexican Pork Exports During First Nine Months of 2013
MEXICO - The volume of Mexican pork exported during January to September 2013 increased 7.02 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA).Between January and September 2013, sales of pork reached 63,000,056 tonnes compared to 58,000,919 tonnes in the same period in 2012.
Japan is the main consumer of Mexican pork. The country purchased 51,000,596 tonnes of Mexican pork in 2013, representing an increase of 15 per cent compared with the volume purchased during the same period last year.
Until 30 September 2013, Korea imported 600,510 tonnes of Mexican pork, while the US purchased 400,310 tonnes of pork from Mexico.
Currently, Mexico exports pork and pork products to 32 countries in America, Asia and Europe.
