CME: Weekly Pork Export Data Stays Ambiguous

US - Weekly pork export data continues to remain ambiguous, write Steve Meyer and Len Steiner.

At this point the weekly pork export numbers cover about 36 per cent of the overall pork export volume.

The following chart shows the monthly volume of US pork exports based on the weekly and monthly export statistics.

For instance, in October USDA pegged exports of fresh/frozen pork to Japan at 36,760 MT.

The weekly report however had total volume of pork going to Japan at 5,895 MT in October while November was 5,748. So the weekly report remains of limited use at this point but we will continue to track and see if any trends develop that could make it more useful.
