Gourley Premium Pork, LLC, which is operating a 4,000-unit swine confinement facility in Leslie Township, is back in the spotlight as petitioners have filed suit in the Minnesota Court of Appeals against the Gourley’s and the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.

Long Prairie Leader reports that the suit this time around focuses on the granting of a Water Appropriation Permit by the DNR to the Gourley’s.

The appropriation permit application sought to withdraw up to eight million gallons of water per year for the facilities’ operation.

The petitioners - including The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) - are seeking a review of the DNR’s decision as they allege the permit was granted arbitrarily and capriciously.
