The incident was reported on Dutch television, Nos last week.

The company said that it was an isolated incident due to human error in which 11 tonnes of meat in a 24 tonne batch was incorrectly sold as organic.

The meat was sold through supermarkets and foodservice outlets.

The company said that it takes such incidents very seriously and it had immediately informed consumers.

The company has now set in place working practices to prevent similar incidents in the future and it has apologised for the incident.
