African Swine Fever Control Measures in Force
EU - The European Commission has confirmed the demarcation of the area of Lithuania affected by African swine fever infected and where emergency restrictions now apply.

According to the UK's National Pig Association, these measures are coupled with the deployment of a team of experts who will support the Lithuanian veterinary authorities in applying control measures and restrictions.
The restrictions include:
- Intensified surveillance of wild boars and pigs.
- Sending samples to the European Union reference laboratory in Spain for more detailed analysis.
- Keeping pigs isolated on their holdings, unless authorised not to.
- The dispatch of live pigs, pig semen, ova and embryos is banned and pigmeat from the infected area covering six districts (Trakai, Salcininkai, Lazdijai, Varena, Alytus and Druskininkai) cannot be exported out of the country.
The measures will be reviewed at the European Commission's Standing Committee on the Food Chain and Animal Health on 6-7 February.
