BRAZIL - The Brazilian Association of Producers and Exporters of Pork (ABIPECS) estimates that production this year will be stable, with 3.46 million tonnes compared to 3.43 million tonnes in 2013.

"The carcasses will be a bit heavier, indicating a slight recovery in the supply of pork," said Jurandi Soares Machado, director of domestic ABIPECS.

The accommodation of industrial matrices is forecast to be stable, with 1.67 million sows in production, compared to 1,668,594 in 2013.

"There will be slight recovery in productivity, offering for slaughter from 37.4 million to 37.6 million head, almost the same amount as last year," said Mr Machado.
