New Minister to Tackle Pig Welfare in Denmark

DENMARK - The new food minister has announced he will consult with stakeholders to improve pig welfare in the country.

Denmark's new Minister for Food, Dan Jørgensen, is setting the stage for significant changes to Danish pig production.

According to BPEX Weekly, citing the Ritzau news agency, he cites pig production in Denmark as the the country's largest animal welfare problem.

The Minister is going to invite agriculture, animal welfare organisations, experts and politicians to make an action plan to be finalised within months.
