Specialist advice on feeding, health, equipment and housing will be featured in a new Pig and Poultry Feature in the Feeds and Forage Zone making it easy for visitors to locate within the main exhibition halls.

In addition, specific technical and business seminars are being scheduled for pig and poultry farmers.

“The new pig and poultry feature reflects one of the event’s objectives, to become a one stop shop for all livestock farmers’ business requirements,” said organiser RABDF Event’s chief executive, Nick Everington.

“During the last 10 years, we have successfully widened the event’s appeal from dairy to beef and sheep, and we believe the time has arrived to officially extend to pig and poultry.

“Some existing dairy farmers have already diversified into broilers whilst others have been approached by pig breeding companies looking for bio-secure units, consequently it’s a natural step to extend the scope of the event to these sectors.

“Furthermore, many of our exhibitors already offer pig and poultry products with ranges covering feed, animal health, genetics, housing, storage, slurry, renewable energy, livestock equipment and machinery. In fact at the 2013 event, of the 460 exhibitors, 50 per cent offered products for pigs and 43 per cent for poultry.”

He added: “The NEC, Birmingham has provided the Livestock Event for the past four years with a modern, undercover, easily accessible, farmer friendly venue for both UK and overseas visitors travelling by road, rail or air. It’s now time pig and poultry producers to enjoy the benefit of these excellent facilities.”

The event will be held at The NEC, Birmingham on 2 and 3 July.
