African Swine Fever Virus Detected in Poland

POLAND - The African Swine Fever virus has been detected for the first time in Poland - in a wild boar found dead in the east of the country, writes Jackie Linden.

The veterinary authority sent an Immediate Notification dated 17 February to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

On 17 February, a wild boar was found dead at Grzybowszczyzna in the region of Podlaskie, which is in eastern Poland and borders Belarus.

This is the first time that the African Swine Fever virus has been detected in the country.
