African Swine Fever Kills Wild Boars in Rostov Region

RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported two further cases of African swine fever in Rostovskaya oblast.

According to follow-up report no. 5 sent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on Wednesday, 5 March, two wild boars were found dead.

Carcasses of wild boars were found on the territory of the game husbandry "Fominskoye" near the village of Popovka.

Laboratory studies confirmed that the wild boars were infected with African swine fever virus. The carcasses were incinerated.

The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
