Classical Swine Fever Outbreaks Affect Wild Boars in Latvia
LATVIA - The Latvian veterinary authorities have reported two outbreaks of classical swine fever affecting wild boars in Dagdas County.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 9 on Thursday, 8 May. According to the report, two wild boars were found affected. Both animals were destroyed.
According to the OIE, hunting and sampling of wild boar is still on-going. From 28 January to 7 May 2014, positive CSF virus results were not detected.
A total of 6000 wild boars have been vaccinated in the administrative division of Latvia. According to the OIE, since May 2013 wild boar oral vaccination against CSF virus has been ongoing in CSF-infected areas.
In addition to vaccination, other control measures have also been applied by the OIE, in conjunction with the country's competent authorities, in order to contain the situation.
The source of the outbreaks remains inconclusive.
