Russia Reports African Swine Fever in Wild Boar, Domestic Pig

RUSSIA - African swine fever has been confirmed in one wild boar and a domestic pig in two regions in western Russia.

The veterinary authority has sent Follow Up Report No.15 dated 27 June to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

According to the report, two animals have tested positive for the African swine fever virus - a wild boar at Troste in Kaluga oblast on 5 June and a domestic pig in Smolensk oblast on 18 June. Both areas are located in western Russia. The wild animal was found dead; the backyard pig was destroyed.
