Pork Prices Spike Japan
JAPAN - Outbreaks of porcine epidemic diarrhoea (PED) in the country are partly blamed for a 20 per cent rise in pork prices over the last year.In the Minato meat market in Tokyo, this week, wholesale pork prices were up 10 per cent from the previous week's average, according to Nikkei.
This represents a 20 per cent increase from a year ago, when outbreaks of PED began in Japan.
The price rise has reportedly been exacerbated by retailers ahead of the coming three-day weekend for Culture Day.
