Brazil Exported Less Pork in November

BRAZIL - Pork exports for November, the most recent month reported, and for the year to date fell in volume but increased significantly in US dollar value.

For the first 11 months of 2014 to the end of November, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) reports that the country's pork exports were 455,817 tonnes, which is 5.0 per cent less than at the same point in 2013.

The value of those exports (in US$) totalled US$1.483 billion, making the average price $3,254, representing increases of 17.9 and 24.1 per cent, respectively, from the figures last year.

Taking the figures for November, the export volume was 10.6 per cent lower in 2014 than the year before at 42,769 tonnes, while the value was up 43.9 per cent at $147.6 million. The average price for the month was 30.1 per cent higher at $3,451 per tonne.
