EU Pig Prices: Balanced Situation, Quotations Unchanged
EU - Altogether, the pig slaughter market remains on a steady level. The quotations are moving sideward.Unchanged quotations are reported from the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Ireland.
From Denmark, where the price had gone down last week, an unchanged quotation is reported as well.
The German pig slaughter quotation being steady finds a positive echo in the other EU member countries. The extensive quantities on offer are well purchased by the slaughter companies.
In France, the price quoted on the Marché du Porc Breton was 2.8 cents lower than last week’s price, now being a corrected 1.279 euros per kg slaughter weight.
Competition is tough with the other EU member countries. As is reported from France, the French producers’ situation is disastrous.
After marginal price corrections, the Spanish hope for positive stimulus for exports to third countries during the second half of January.
The Austrians’ assessment is more cautious: The traditional January exports towards Russia are failing to appear this year.
Trend for the German market: The quantities on offer are sold well; the pressure is continuously getting out of the market. The level of steadiness reached so far is stabilising. An unchanged price development may be expected.
