Meat Trade has More Positive Feel as Major Processor Goes up 2p

UK - With Easter behind us, demand improved overall with the fresh meat outlets leading the rally, says marketing group Thames Valley Cambac in its report on Friday's trading.

There was a small carryover from the two short weeks but this was easily absorbed into this week's movements. Most major processors planned full week kills and supply matched these requirements.

Contract prices were generally similar but Woodhead bucked the trend adding 2p to its contract contribution.

It was the fresh meat market's turn to lead the way with good demand from most outlets. Founded on successfully negotiating Easter and the possibility of early barbeque trade, most outlets were in a more positive mood.
