In Germany, the quantities on offer are very scarce still and the quotation went up by three cents.

The Dutch and Belgian quotations went up by almost the same extent. Slightly positive trends are also reported from Spain and France. A result of increased slaughter weights, the mood is a little less optimistic in France.

Unchanged quotations are reported from Denmark, Italy, Austria and Ireland.

In Austria especially, backlog supply has piled up over the public holidays which, however, meets higher-than-average demand. Producers now look to weather conditions, hoping it will allow barbecues.

Trend for the German market:

On the German pig slaughter market, everything is going smoothly. No problems were caused by the public holiday. On the contrary, the marketers were not able to collect the quantities asked for.

Another positive image is seen on the meat market. Barbecue meat and high-quality parts helped the meat sales achieve better margins. On top of that, the business is expected to go on developing positively.

This is also reflected by the internet pig auction results. At least stable, to a slightly increasing, quotation is expected. The unsold batches of pigs are probably explained by the fact that some sellers were too optimistic and have too high minimum price requirements.
