Russia is the largest importer of Brazilian pork products. In total, 50,600 tons were shipped in the period.

However, revenues from shipments to Russia fell by 14.9 per cent in the same comparison period, totalling US $136.9 million.

When considering all importing countries, pork shipments from Brazil decreased 14.1 per cent in volume in the quarter compared to the same period last year, totalling 134,800 tons. In revenue, the reduction was 23 per cent, reaching $ 319.6 million.

The percentage decline in these figures, however, was lower in April, with the shipment declining by 42,100 tons (-3.3 per cent) and revenue declining by $93.9 million (-21.7 per cent).

"Reducing levels drop shows a change in the flow, which could again be positive in the coming months," said the chief executive of ABPA, Francisco Turra.

Among the major importing regions, European countries remained as the major importers of pork from Brazil, totalling 51.7 thousand tons (-5.6 per cent).

Asia, in second place, imported 47,900 tonnes (-17.6 per cent). The third main destination countries in the Americas accounted for shipments of 15,900 tons (-3.3 per cent).
