African Swine Fever Found in Kenya

KENYA - There has been an outbreak of African Swine Fever on a pig farm in southern Kenya.

The outbreak is the first reported occurrence of the disease in Kenya since 2012.

There were 11 deaths out of a small population of 21 animals on the farm, with the other ten animals slaughtered.

The exposed and affected animals were from a subsistence farm in a well enclosed establishment. The animals were fed on swill.

The outbreak occurred in the central region.
