EU Pig Prices: Scarce Quantities of Pigs on Offer
EU - The price barometer is pointing upwards on the European pig slaughter market.Starting from a price level quite low for this time of the year, the quotations were able to go up considerably for pigs for slaughter all over Europe. The scope ranks from a corrected 2.1 cents quoted in France to 7.2 cents in Austria.
The quantities of pigs for slaughter on offer are undershooting demand throughout Europe. Demand for barbecue meat above all is boosting the European meat business. At the same time, the good demand from China still is very much discussed about. Decreasing slaughter weights show a continuing scarce supply situation.
After the most recent price increases Spain ranks first again in the ranking of the five EU member countries most significant in pig keeping, closely followed by Denmark and Spain. Germany with its corrected price level moves as a midfielder in the European price structure.
Trend for the German market:
The new week starts with sunshine and good prospects. Pigs for slaughter are scarce in quantity and well sought after. Last week’s public holiday did not show any negative after-effect on the live-animals’ market. For the days to come, the weather forecast promises conditions to be best for barbecuing. From today’s point of view, nothing seems to be a bar to the price increase to continue.
