China has banned imports of pigs and related items from India amid ASF outbreak.

Reuters reports that China’s customs authorities will ban imports of pigs, wild boars and related products from India to prevent the spread of African swine fever.

The move took effect on Wednesday 27 May as China strives to restore pig production after its own ASF outbreak decimated its pig herd.

India is contending with an African swine fever outbreak in its northern states.
