China announces frozen pork auction
China plans to auction 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork from state reserves on 23 July.China’s Merchandise Reserve Management Center announced that it will sell 10,000 tonnes of frozen pork on 23 July.
China has already sold approximately 420,000 tonnes of pork from state reserves in 2020 in an effort to cap soaring pork prices after outbreaks of African swine fever (ASF). Since it was first detected in China’s pig herd in 2018, ASF has decimated China’s domestic pig supplies.
