CME update: lean hog futures ease but cash prices remain strong

US lean hog futures faltered on 27 October, but underlying support for futures market remains.

Reuters reports that hog futures eased yesterday as falling cut-out prices carved into packer margins.

December lean hogs futures settled down 0.100 cent to 67.650 cents per pound.

Though hog futures slipped on 27 October, traders noted that the cash market for hogs remains strong, supporting the futures markets as they come off the highs seen in recent weeks.
