According to reporting in Brownfield Ag News, the German government is asking China to relax its pork import ban nearly three months after the first cases of African swine fever were detected in Germany.

All of the cases identified in Germany have been in wild boar. No domestic pigs or farm sites have been affected by ASF.

China and other Asian countries like South Korea and Japan suspended imports of pork from Germany after cases of ASF were reported in wild boar in September and October. German officials favour a regionalisation approach, where pork imports would be suspended from individual states instead of a country-wide blanket ban.
