Taiwan courts Filipino pork market

Taiwan has recently announced plans to export pork to the Philippines after being declared free of FMD last year.

Taiwan News reports that the country is planning to resume pork exports to the Philippines after a 23-year suspension due to foot-and-mouth disease. Taiwan was declared free of the disease in 2020.

Taiwan’s Council of Agriculture says that talks are already underway with Manila to allow exports of frozen pork meat, canned foods and live pigs.

The Philippines would join Hong Kong, Macau and Japan as the top destinations for Taiwanese pork.
