Lidl has launched two new products in Germany, in a move they say is following the trend towards lower meat consumption. The company has developed a Viennese sausage that's made with carrots and chicken meat sausage with soy protein. It comes in classic and garlic flavours.

Lidl has also launched minced meat and burger patties made with beef and jackfruit. The two products were available at over 3,200 Aldi supermarkets across Germany as of 10 January 2022.

The food retailer said it wants to support customers who want to reduce their consumption of animal products, as well as their ecological footprint, without completely giving up meat. The company plans to launch further innovative alternatives to classic meat products to support meat-reduced consumption.
