France Reports Two Aujeszky's Disease Outbreaks

FRANCE - The French veterinary authorities have reported two outbreaks of Aujeszky's disease in swine herds.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received an immediate notification on Monday, 13 September. The report states that the two outbreaks occured in a finishing farm and a farrowing farm, both in Pyrénées-Atlantiques.

Also, both outbreaks occured on 6 September. In the first outbreak, 88 animals showed susceptibility to the disease. In the second, 11 showed signs of susceptibility.

An antibody detection ELISA test was carried out in the National Reference Laboratory, confirming the presence of the Aujeszky's disease virus in the province.
