Pig Farms on Flu Alert

AUSTRALIA - The death of 40 pigs in a flu outbreak in southern Queensland has sparked concern.

ABC Rural reports that the pigs died at a commercial piggery in Kingaroy from Influenza A, which Biosecurity Queensland says is not the traditional swine flu.

Healthy pigs are still being sent to slaughter, and officials say there is no risk from eating pork or its products.
