African Swine Fever Kills Nine Wild Boar in Western Russia

RUSSIA - Nine wild boar found dead in western Russia in early June have tested positive for African swine fever virus, as has one domestic pig from a nearby village herd 17 days later.

The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No.13 dated 20 June to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

In the report, nine wild boar and one pig from a village herd are reported to have died at Spas-Demensky in Kaluga oblast, which is near to the border with Belarus.

The wild boar were reported on 2 June, and the one domestic pigs - one of a herd of 36 animals - died on 19 June. All 10 animals tested positive for the African swine fever virus.
