Print This Page 'No Obstacle' in the Creation of Organic Standards
AUSTRALIA - Australian Pork Limited says there's nothing stopping producers from creating their own organic and free-range standards.ABC reports that the peak body will today appear at a Senate hearing into meat labelling and standards.
President of the Free Range Pork Farmers Association, Lee McCosker, has called for a national free-range standard to protect consumers.
But APL general manager of policy, Kathleen Plowman, says there's "no obstacle" for producer groups or associations to do it themselves, as long as they have "robust" verification standards.
