More Pig Producers on Bill at Events

UK - Pig producers will feature more strongly than ever on the speaker list at BPEX’s Breed+3 Regional Producer Events next month.

They will be discussing how they’ve got on with new sow feeding systems and how they’re managing their herds to unlock as much of the genetic potential as possible.

BPEX technology co-ordinator Miriam Drewett says: “The four regional events aim to give pig managers and stockmen practical ideas that they can take straight back to their units to help improve breeding herd performance.

“We know from previous years that producers really value the combination of insights from both fellow producers and technical industry experts.”

Sylviane Boulot from the French institute for pig and pork, John Richardson of Production Performance Services Ltd and a number of UK breeding companies will be sharing their knowledge on how to reduce pre-weaning mortality, interpret performance figures and optimise genetic potential.

These events are an important part of the Breed+3 initiative, which aims to encourage all producers to review their breeding herd’s performance and identify problem areas to tackle. There will always be something that can be improved, whether they’re currently about average at 23 pigs weaned or if they’re already at 27 and want to get to 30.

The four dates and locations are:

  • 13 November – Newbury Rugby Club
  • 14 November – The Granary, Kidderminster
  • 19 November – Wetherby Racecours
  • 20 November – Diss Rugby Club

Producers can see full programme details and register online at Alternatively, places can be reserved by emailing or calling 0247 647 8792.
