Support for Pig Farmers in Ontario

02 June 2014

ONTARIO, CANADA - As efforts to contain and eliminate Porcine Epidemic Diarrhoea virus (PEDv) in the province continue, Ontario Pork is supporting and working collaboratively with Ontario Swine Health Advisory Board (OSHAB) providing resources and tools to assist the industry with this challenge.

Listed below are the areas where funding is currently available from Ontario Pork to perform investigative sampling and analysis at confirmed PEDv-positive sites.

Costs covered by Ontario Pork:

For those enrolled in an Area Regional Control and Elimination Program (ARC&E), coverage of these expenses will be handled through OSHAB. For those farms not participating in an ARC&E program, Ontario Pork will cover the expenses to ensure support is available for all farms affected by PEDv. This program will begin immediately and will continue until further notice. Producers can submit invoices to Ontario Pork or through their local ARC&E program.

If there are any questions on eligibility and process for this program please contact Dean Gurney at Ontario Pork.
