MSD Animal Health (known as Merck Animal Health in the United States and Canada) has appointed Albert as head of its Integrated Livestock Business Unit (ILBU) in the UK, covering the company's pig, poultry and aquaculture activities. Formerly General Manager of the company’s Poland & Baltics division, Mr Urbanek takes over from David Schofield who has led the ILBU for the past six years and retires at the end of 2014.

Mr Urbanek, who is from Poland, is a qualified vet and holds an MBA from the Warsaw School of Economics. He joined MSD Animal Health in 2005 as Business Manager for Area Northern & Eastern Europe and became General Manager for Poland and the Baltics in 2008. He has made a significant contribution to market growth and business development in these regions and was also instrumental in leading the commercial organisation of MSD Animal Health’s interests in Norway during 2012 and 2013.

He took up his new post during September 2014 and hopes to mirror the significant achievements made growing MSD's business in Poland and the Baltics here in the UK.

MSD Animal Health would like to wish Mr Schofield a long and happy retirement. The company says his dedication to its animal health business and also the UK's veterinary health sector, has provided MSD Animal Health customers with tremendous support throughout his years of service.
