NPPC Hails Secretary Venemans's Commitment To Agriculture
WASHINGTON, DC - The National Pork Producers Council (NPPC) today commended Agriculture Secretary Ann Veneman’s service to agriculture and her many accomplishments during her time in office, following the news that she had resigned her post in the Cabinet.
“We commend Secretary Veneman on her many services to pork producers during her four-year tenure at the U.S. Department of Agriculture,“ Berry said. “She dealt swiftly and confidently on a number of critical issues that she was faced with including agro terrorism, the discovery of bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) in Canada and the U.S. and a number of food safety challenges. In addition, she proved to be a tireless advocate for American agriculture on the international trade front.“
Berry said pork producers look forward to working with her successor and wish Secretary Veneman well on her future endeavors. “We applaud the Secretary and trust that President Bush will find someone as equally talented to fill this important role in U.S. agriculture,“ he said.
