Key issues at pig and poultry fair

UK - Issues facing British pig and poultry keepers, including welfare, increasing energy costs and the effects of bird flu, will be up for debate at the biennial British Pig and Poultry Fair on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 9 and 10, at Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire.

Exhibitors will cover all technical areas of breeding, genetics, nutrition, health, housing and marketing.

"Exhibitor sales are ahead at this stage compared with the last fair in 2004," said Andrea Rutledge of organisers Haymarket Land Events.

"We are also including topical seminars with leading specialist speakers to discuss issues like environmental legislation and welfare as well as changes in management systems."

The fair is aimed at pig and poultry producers of all sizes and systems, whether free range or caged egg production, organic and outdoor pig production or more conventional operations.
