Optimistic producers gather for World Pork Expo
DES MOINES - As World Pork Expo kicks off this week, pork producers are pinching themselves to make sure the good times in the industry are for real."I almost feel a little like Cinderella," said Minnesota producer Don Buhl at a gathering Wednesday night at the National Pork Board headquarters in Des Moines.
While beef has been challenged by BSE, and poultry with the avian influenza scare, pork has enjoyed 14 consecutive years of growth in exports, and almost three years of solid profits for producers.
"The rate of exports has been tremendous," Buhl told Agriculture Online. "We are thankful for the growth we continue to see."
