A series of quality pork sausage tastings has been held in key Spanish supermarkets, organised by the British Pig Executive (BPEX) and it went down a storm.

The sausages involved included traditional pork, pork and leek, Lincolnshire and Cumberland. BPEX Export Manager Jean-Pierre Garnier said: "We had a truly phenomenal response to the tasting with supermarkets keen to list the product in view of the volume sold during the promotion.

"The UK already exports about 1,500 tonnes of sausages a year to Spain - a third of total sausage exports.

"The key objective is to pull the market upwards in terms of product quality and ensure that British pork is used in sausages exported to Europe and beyond."
