Major changes are taking place as the Meat and Livestock Commission is being disbanded. BPEX will become a company limited by guarantee under the new Levy Board UK. And, as all of BPEX's work is funded by the levy paid on every pig which goes through into the food chain, producers must contribute thier views on how the new 'company' will function.

BPEX Chief Executive Mick Sloyan says that this provides the whole pig sector with an excellent opportunity to review and revise the Road to Recovery - the strategy aimed at creating a sustainable and profitable pig industry.

"BPEX is holding a series of meetings around the country to get the views of pig farmers and to ensure the strategy meets the needs of the industry. Producers need to support us and get involved," he added.

Meeting dates and venues are:
Monday, June 18, at Driffield Rugby Club;
Tuesday June 19, at The George Hotel, Lincoln;
Wednesday, June 20, at The Grange Hotel, Bury St Edmunds;
Tuesday, June 26, at Harper Adams;
Wednesday, June 27, at Exeter Market.

All are timed to run from 6pm to 8pm with a buffet will be provided.

This interested in taking part should contact BPEX Regional Managers - details can be found on the website: www.bpex.org.uk .
